Library and Information Services (LIS) is Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s principal gateway to information resources and academic services, that promote information literacy, lifelong learning, and the transmission of knowledge.
The LIS Research Commons is a welcoming, user-centered, and technology-rich learning environment, dedicated to providing the professional expertise and resources, essential for the SIUE students and faculty in achieving excellence in research and scholarship.
Goal 1: Resources - Provide relevant collections, accurate and reliable information resources, and research services to advance scholarship.
Goal 2: Library as Place - Create a comfortable learning environment that promotes, research, scholarship, and intellectual growth through individual study and group collaboration.
Goal 3: Tools/Technology - Provide knowledgeable instruction and practical guidance in the use of up-to-date information tools and technologies.
Goal 4: Scholarship - Educate the University community about evolving issues relating to scholarly communication and intellectual property, especially the impact of profound changes in digital and the marketplace upon scholarship, electronic publications, and institutional repositories.
