Some library films are purchased with public performance rights included. For example, most films through Kanopy, Alexander Street, and Swank specifically include PPR in their licensing.
These film collections can be shown in the classroom, screened on campus, or imbedded within a Blackboard course page.
To find out if the library has public performance rights to the film you wish to screen, please contact your subject librarian.
Faculty can also request films to be acquired through Kanopy, which includes educational and feature films. The library will review requests based on budget and licensing availability.
Create an Instructor Account and place requests for films and retrieve links to share films for your courses.
Public domain films and open-access video collections provide a great alternative for educational use, events, or personal enrichment. These films can be used without copyright restrictions, making them a hassle-free option for classroom instruction and public screenings.
