About Primo VE

Primo VE: Our New Discovery Service

Lovejoy Library is excited to announce our new discovery service, Primo VE! This discovery layer will replace the current catalog, as well as the search box used to find resources. Primo VE will have the capability of searching all library holdings using a simple search interface. Alma will replace the systems currently used by Library staff for operational functions, including acquisitions, cataloging, fulfillment, e-resource management and link resolution.

Request Materials from I-Share

Glossary

  • Alma: The cloud-based, library system created by Ex Libris, which will replace Voyager at Lovejoy Library. 
  • Collection: An Alma catalog entity (top level collection or sub-collection) that groups any number and type of resources together, allowing for enhanced organization of mixed-type materials based on topic-based hierarchical structures.
  • Database: a type of electronic collection whose resources cannot be individually managed through an interface.
  • Primo VE: The library catalog (public interface).  Lovejoy Library is using a version of Primo, called "Primo VE."
  • Source Record: The individual record from the data source that is converted to the Primo VE normalized record (the PNX).
