Zotero Connector Browser Extension

If the Zotero Connector extension is connected to your internet browser, you will be able to automatically save citations from the browser to Zotero.  

1. Look for the Zotero icon, it should be near the address bar in the browser. The icon typically looks like a 'Z'.
   • The icon changes to signify how Zotero reads the website. Hover the mouse over the icon to determine how the page will be saved.
2. Click the Zotero icon to save the citation. 
3. A dialog box will popup below the Zotero icon, which will indicate where the citation was saved in your Zotero library.

Identifier

1. Open Zotero
2. Select the 'Add item(s) by Identifier' button, which is a wand with a green and white plus sign in the button right corner. 
3. Enter the ID number and click the 'enter' key on the keyboard. When searching for multiple ID's, copy and paste them all at once.
   1. Note: Click shift+enter to expand the search field for the indicator.

Saving Webpages

Zotero doesn't always recognize the type of resource in the web browser. If Zotero can't automatically collect citation information from a website, the website can still be saved to the library. 

Saving Screenshots 

1. Navigate to the webpage.
2.  Click on the Zotero screenshot button in the browser. It will likely be near the search bar and look like a blue piece of paper.  
3. The screenshot will be saved to your library.

Manual Entry

1. Open Zotero
2. Select the 'new item' button.  Selecting this will open a drop down menu. 
3. Select the citation type. 
   • Note: If your citation type needed is not listed, hover over "more" to view other citation options.
4. You can now fill out the information for the citation in the right column.

DON'T FORGET TO SYNC!

If citation do not show up on Zotero, syncing to the Zotero may be required. 

1. Open Zotero.
2. Click on the green circular arrow button in the upper right hand corner.
