In honor of SIUE's presentation of the Distinguished Service award to SIUE architect Gyo Obata during the May 2017 commencement, the original architectural model that was displayed at the campus groundbreaking on May 2, 1963 was moved to the first floor light well in Lovejoy Library. Scents of sage, lemon balm, mint, basil, and lavender filled the light well, accompanying materials related to sustainability efforts on campus, the Gardens at SIUE, herb gardening, children's gardening books, adult gardening books, and books available from the good buy book shop.
