Institutional Repositories (IRs) aim to bring together all of a University's research and creative output under one umbrella, with an aim to preserve and provide access to that content. SIUE SPARK (Scholarly Publications and Repository of Knowledge) is a service of Library and Information Services, fulfilling and expanding the library's traditional role in collecting and preserving the scholarly record and providing open access to SIUE's scholarly and creative output.
IRs are an excellent vehicle for copies of published articles and conference papers. Presentations, performances, theses, capstone/culminating projects, and other works not published elsewhere can also be published in the IR.
The SIU Open Access policy specifies that articles must be submitted to the repository, SPARK, within thirty days of publication.
The document to upload will be the author’s post-peer-reviewed final manuscript. This is the last document that you send to the publisher after the peer review process has been completed, but before the publisher’s copyediting or formatting.
To submit a document for open access publication in SPARK:
Your submission will be reviewed and you will be notified if the document is accepted for publication in SPARK or if revisions or additional information are required.
As always, feel free to contact your subject liaison librarian or the Library and Information Services Information Desk for additional information or assistance.
