Transfer Students: Library Catalogs

This guide provide an overview of library information and resources to support the success of transfer students.

What Library Catalogs Should I Know?

The process to locate a book and other library material includes first examining the UFind Catalog, Lovejoy Library's catalog. If you cannot find the resource at Lovejoy, search the I-Share Catalog.  Finally, if you cannot find the resource in I-Share, you will need to search WorldCat.

UFind Catalog

The UFind Catalog locates records of any items the SIUE Library owns.

I-Share Catalog

I-Share is a regional catalog which indexes records for items that are owned by 70+ academic and research or community college libraries in Illinois.

To request items in I-Share, type the prefix 21811 followed immediately by your Cougar ID number. Leave no space between the prefix and your ID number.

This entire number is your Library ID number and is printed at the bottom of your Cougar Card.  The number will look like: 21811 800xxxxxx  2 is the code for a patron.  1811 is Lovejoy Library's identification number in I-Share, the state-wide system).  Your 9 digit ID number follows this prefix
