Creating a work order for physical processing

A work order indicates that a process needs to be run on a physical item. We will use this workflow to send a physical item for labeling. 


  • From a physical item search (see Searching in Alma), selectWork Order from the row actions list. The Work Order option appears only when searching for physical items.   


  • The Place Item in Process page opens. 
  • In the Process Type drop-down list, select Acquisitions technical services 
  • Select Do not pick from shelf 
  • Add "For labeling" in the Note box
  • In the Managing Department drop-down list, select Lovejoy Library Technical Services Department
  • Select Submit. 


You can also create a work order in one of the following ways: 

  • Go to Fulfillment—Resource Requests—Scan in Items. 
  • Select Physical Processing from the Set Status To drop-down menu. 
  • Select No for Done. 
  • Scan in the item barcode.
