RUSH procedures

Rush: If a bib records already exists and doesn’t need any or much enhancing (e.g. 505 or 520), fully catalog and send on User Services. If the title needs an original record, considerable enhancing, or a new call number constructed, use the rush procedures in place with the added fulfillment note. User Services will do all the physical processing. Rush status should delivered to User Services within 2 days.

Expedite: If a bib records already exists and doesn’t need any or much enhancing (e.g. 505 or 520), fully catalog and send on to User Services. If the title needs an original record, considerable enhancing, or a new call number constructed, check with the Cataloging Supervisor to see if they can get to it quickly. If they cannot, use the rush procedures in place with the added fulfillment note. Technical Services will do all the physical processing. Expedite status should be delivered to User Services within 4 days.

 

Item fulfillment note text (when needed): "[Date]: Rush item for patron - will need better record - WHEN RETURNED FROM PATRON send to Technical Services for full cataloging."

RUSH items should be given directly to Michele or Ted (or, if unavailable, place on their shelf in room 1042).

*When the items are returned for full cataloging, remove the fulfillment note.
